There Can Only Be One “You”

Dear Friends,

The song Second Hand White Baby Grand describes a beautiful story. Listening to the words, it tells the story about a second hand piano, although broken, “still has something beautiful to give”. This I believe is symbolic of a person.

I was once a very broken individual that I really didn’t even know who I was for a long time. And for me, apart of this journey was to get to a point where I had to take a long hard look at myself and delve deep – face demons head on, forgive people, ask for forgiveness, face the truth. After all, the saying goes, ‘The truth will set you free’. Once I had hit my early 20’s I had already gone though what most people may go through in a lifetime, so there was a lot of healing to do. On one particular occasion, I was unfortunately a victim of assault. Without going into all the details, the experience back to back, including a grueling court case that dragged on for a few years, only hit me years later, and of course had a knock on effect with every other facet of my life. After a few years of being lost, I started my journey to healing. I am not telling you this story to make you feel sorry for me. I am telling you this to empower you. The point is: if you are feeling broken it is never too late to mend. Sometimes the broken ones are the best ones! We all have something wonderful to offer this world and we’re all uniquely complex and beautiful in our own way! This is a best part: There can only be one “You”. There is a heart of gold lying in every single one of you, and I hope you use this. It’s never too late.
